The U.S. market for ferrous scrap continued moving higher as domestic trading progressed this week. Secondary tags opened the week up $20/GT from February levels, before pushing gains to $25-35/GT in some markets. Prime tags started the week sideways, but climbed to rise $10/GT as markets settled.
Many suppliers were still scrambling amid tough winter weather to fill remaining February orders. Secondary tags were in shorter supply than prime tags, as inclement weather slowed fresh material in transit to suppliers.
